Double-chambered right ventricle mimicking asymmetric septal hypertrophy.

چکیده
Double-chambered right ventricle (DCRV) is an uncommon congenital heart disease. Anomalous muscle bundles in the right ventricle divide the right ventricle into two portions and cause intracavitary obstruction of the right ventricle. We report a patient with DCRV mimicking asymmetric septal hypertrophy. We did clinical, echocardiographic and angiographic evaluation. Surgical intervention was successfully managed.

A 27 years old female was admitted to our hospital with complaints of swelling of feet and abdomen, pain abdomen and exertional dyspnea from last 1 week. On examination she was found to have congestive heart failure. Chest x-ray revealed mild cardiomegaly with left pleural effusion and electrocardiography showed right axis deviation with right ventricular hypertrophy. By echocardiography she wa...
متن کاملCharacteristics of Double-Chambered Right Ventricle in Adult Patients
BACKGROUND/AIMS This study evaluated the clinical features of double-chambered right ventricle (DCRV) in adults. Most cases of DCRV are diagnosed and treated during childhood. Consequently, very few reports include cases in which its clinical characteristics are evident in adults. METHODS We reviewed the clinical data for 10 adult patients (age > or = 18 years) with DCRV. RESULTS Electrocar...
متن کاملThe double-chambered right ventricle. A report of five cases.
The double-chambered right ventricle is a developmental cardiac anomaly in which aberrant muscular bands obstruct the body of the right ventricle dividing it into a high-pressure proximal chamber and a low-pressure distal chamber. Grant, Downey, and MacMahon (1961) considered that the obstruction, which is situated at the start of the outflow tract adjacent to the moderator band, is caused by h...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Double-Chambered Right Ventricle Associated with Ventricular Septal Defect and Congenital Absence of the Pulmonary Valve
Double-chambered right ventricle (DCRV) is a rare congenital heart disorder involving 2 different right ventricle (RV) pressure compartments that is often associated with ventricular septal defect (VSD). Usually, the obstruction is caused by an anomalous muscle bundle crossing the RV from the interventricular septum to the RV free wall. We are reporting a case of double-chambered right ventricl...
متن کاملDouble-chambered right ventricle in a 16-year-old patient with Williams syndrome
We present a case of double-chambered right ventricle diagnosed during preparation for colonoscopy due to gastrointestinal bleeding in a 16-year-old, mentally disabled boy with Williams syndrome. The patient was previously diagnosed with ventricular septal defect and mild pulmonary stenosis. Echocardiography performed under general anesthesia revealed hypertrophied muscular bundles in the right...
